Your first visit is designed entirely to find out what you want and to help you achieve your goals. We start by evaluating first your medical history and then the condition of your teeth. We then examine the quality of your gums and supporting bone followed by an examination of your tooth alignment. We closely look throughout your mouth for any signs of cysts, tumors, and/or cancers. At this point we will take photographs and any necessary x-rays. Finally we will ask you a series of questions designed to find out how satisfied you are with the current condition of your mouth, both functionally and esthetically. We also ask about your previous dental experiences and whether you have anxiety that needs to be addressed. And finally we will ask what it is you want done, whether it is to maintain the current condition, rehabilitate your smile, minimize necessary dental work, or keep your teeth a lifetime. If your needs are few we will explain your options at that time, but if your needs are more complex we will spend some study time with your information while we develop a customized treatment plan, to be discussed at a separate appointment. Your plan will include a checklist for you to use as you progress on the path to optimal oral health at your own pace.
