PERIAPICAL RADIOGRAPH This x-ray views the entire tooth, root, and bony structures in detail. A full series may be ten to twenty films depending on size. FULL MOUTH SERIES A complete full mouth series consists of a number of periapical and bitewing radiographs that capture different landmarks and structures. BITEWING RADIOGRAPHS Horizontal Bitewings view the tooth, bony sturctures that support the tooth, and inbetween the teeth. OCCLUSAL RADIOPRAPHS These x-rays view large areas of the upper jaw & lower jaw and, floor of the mouth of children. Generally taken around age 5. PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPH This x-ray will take a view of the upper and lower jaws with less detail. However, it serves as a supplement to a full mouth series. This film is repeated every 3-5 years. |
